Student art work is selected at ArtBreak every year by Feist-Weiller Cancer Center physicians. The art works are framed to hang for one year in the hospital rooms of cancer patients at LSU Medical Center. A community art reception honoring student artists is held at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center each year.

Life Savers

The Life Savers fundraising project benefits cancer research at LSU Health Shreveport's Feist-Weiller Cancer Center. All proceeds stay in the community to advance cancer treatment. Life Savers allows Feist-Weiller Cancer Center to grant Idea Awards for cancer research scientists to develop their ideas. This brings local competitive grants to 26, worth a total of $1.3 million. Twelve of these scientists have been successful on the national level, bringing $8 million back in to the community from national organizations like the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Komen Race for the Cure and the Department of Defense.

Great Pumpkin Run for Research

Centenary College Gold Dome

Dress up and join the fun! The event features a traditional 5K run and health walk, ½ mile kid’s run, healthy lifestyle programs, face painting, Halloween costume contests and a pumpkin decorating contest for kids.

About 1,000 people participate in this run managed by Sportspectrum. Great prizes for contests and teams with the largest numbers of registered runners win cash prizes of $250, $150 and $100. Pre-registration for the 5K is $20 through Oct. 25 and $25 race day. The half-mile run for kids is $15 through Oct. 25 and $20 race day. Pre-registration guarantees participants one of the long-sleeve t-shirts that are always a hit. Register at Sportspectrum and make an extra donation to help kids with cancer. Once again LSU Health Shreveport supporters can sponsor a "Did You Know?" sign for $100 that will be posted along the 5K route. Each sign will include a healthy living fact and your name. To sponsor a sign call 318.813.1056.
