New Patient InformationHighly specialized hematologists and oncologists at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center offer individualized treatment for every cancer patient. To be treated by an experienced Feist-Weiller Cancer Center specialist after cancer diagnosis at LSUHSCS or another facility, simply ask your physician for a referral that can be faxed to 318.813.1030. The fax should include relevant clinic notes, diagnostics, pathology reports, prior treatment records, and appropriate contact information. The Clinic Nurse Coordinator will be in contact to schedule an appointment.
If you recently were diagnosed with cancer and would like a second opinion, call 318.813.1200. You may also ask your physician to fax a referral along with relevant clinic notes, diagnostics, pathology reports, prior treatment records, and appropriate contact information to 318.813.1030. The referral should clearly state Second Opinion. The Clinic Nurse Coordinator will be in contact to schedule an appointment. Appointments Cancer treatment usually requires multiple treatments. Attending all appointments is necessary for good results. Please be on time for your appointment.
Hematology/Oncology patients register for scheduled appointments in the outpatient cancer treatment center located between Shriner's Hospital and the Virginia K. Shehee Biomedical Research Institute. Adult patients please register at the desk on the first floor at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled appointment. Pediatric patients register in the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic on the first floor. Feist-Weiller Cancer Center treats patients from any state, but non-Louisiana residents may be required to pay a $250 deposit. Louisiana Medicaid and Medicaid plans from some other states exempt this deposit
If admitted to the LSU University Hospital overnight, visit the Admitting office conveniently located on the first floor of the hospital at the K-Wing entrance. The Admitting staff will collect information for our records. Room assignment will be based on medical needs and bed availability on the day of admission. Financial counseling is available for assistance with insurance and billing questions.
An identification bracelet is placed on your arm or leg when admitted to the hospital. The bracelet gives our staff important information that will help them care for you. Please do not remove the bracelet during your stay.

You may wish to bring personal items such as sleepwear, a robe, a pair of slippers, deodorant, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and a brush or comb. These things may make you feel more comfortable during your stay. Maternity patients should also bring clothes for the baby to wear home and a car seat
Medicine should not be brought to the hospital unless your doctor has asked you to bring it. Please do not bring electrical appliances such as heaters, coffee pots, toasters, or televisions. Money, jewelry, and other valuables should be left at home. The hospital is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
