Donors make a significant contribution to cancer research, world-class cancer treatment, and cancer prevention programs that improve the quality of life for Feist-Weiller Cancer Center patients. Donate to a named fund or learn how to make a tax-saving gift through your will, trust, or other estate plans. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent that the law allows.

Honorariums and Memorials
This is a meaningful way to remember or honor a special person. Cards will be sent to the honoree or to the family of the person you are remembering.
General Support
Your support benefits cancer education, research, treatment and prevention. Cash gifts are accepted by check or by credit card. Please make checks payable to the LSUHS Shreveport Foundation, which has a tax identification number 72-1402222. Please note Feist-Weiller Cancer Center on your gift.
Enhance the Lives of Patients Undergoing Treatment
Gifts may be designated for specific funds, clinics or programs at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center.
- The Mellanea and Max Rosenbloom Memorial Fund provides pain medication for cancer patients who have no other resources. Patients work through Feist-Weiller Cancer Center social workers to have these prescriptions filled.
- A Transportation Fund provides help to patients who frequently must travel long distances to receive treatment. One-third of Feist-Weiller Cancer Center patients travel 100 miles or more.
- The Snyder House is a duplex where cancer patients who must travel long distances can stay as they receive treatment. Ongoing monthly expenses, including utilities, cable, etc. are estimated to be approximately $1,000 per month.
Designate funds for the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic, one of only six outside Memphis that provides care for young patients with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital protocols.
Support other Feist-Weiller Cancer Center programs, such as the Arts in Medicine (AIM) program, which provides opportunities for patients and their caregivers to participate in art while they are hospitalized or receive chemotherapy on an outpatient basis.
Support Cancer Research
Gifts to Feist-Weiller Cancer Center may be designated to support disease-specific research for breast cancer, prostate cancer, leukemia, etc.
Naming opportunities are available in the new cancer research building being planned for the LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport campus. Research laboratories, research focus areas, conference rooms, auditoriums, as well as the building itself may be named for gifts at appropriate levels.
Support cancer research when you attend the annual Life Savers event and the October Great Pumpkin Run for Research.
Intellectual Capital
The State of Louisiana through the Louisiana Board of Regents provides matching funds for professorships. To create a professorship, the donor(s) contributes $60,000 in private funds. LSU Health Sciences Center submits an application for $40,000 in matching funds. Once a professorship is matched and endowed, the Board of Regents specifies the principal be invested and a percentage of the earnings is expended on an annual basis.
Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is soliciting funds for named professorships:
- O. Delton Harrison, Jr. Professorship in Cancer Education
- Begin an endowment for a new professorship
Super Professorships are $120,000, eliciting $80,000 in matching state funds.
Chaired Professorships are $600,000, eliciting $400,000 in matching state funds.
Super Chairs are $1.2 million, eliciting $800,000 in matching state funds.

The Kroger Neighbor-to-Neighbor Donation Program
The Kroger Neighbor-to-Neighbor donation program donates a portion of the money spent in stores when customers have this unique barcode linked to their Kroger Plus Card. The cashier first scans the Kroger Plus Card, followed by scanning the barcode unique to Feist-Weiller Cancer Center. Once this is done, every time you make a purchase Kroger will donate a percentage of the total spent at NO ADDITIONAL COST to you.
